Land Rover OEM part numbers

Most of the oil seals and bearings used in series Land Rovers are off the shelf parts readily available at your local auto parts store if you know what to ask for.

This page started from an alternate parts source list Jim "Scotty" Howet put together in the mid 1970's and published in the LROA newsletter. In the late 1970's Jim gave me a photocopy of his hand written original with additional part numbers added.  This page was one of the first pages in this web site beck in 1997.   It has since grown into a conglomeration of part numbers gleaned from a number of sources. This is not presented as original research, but as an attempt to put the research of several people together in one place for easy reference.

If you have corrections or more part numbers to add please .

CAUTION: Manufacturers change part numbers all the time.  Some of these numbers  are over 30 years old.  Please verify the numbers with the manufacturer before ordering.  Some of these numbers were taken off boxes and may not be a complete number.

Weber 34ICH

Check jetting before using, they usually come too lean

My personal non-stock favourite, #51 jet is a good jetting start if you live near sea level

Weber 3236

27/27mm

191 cfm

I recommend against using this Weber 2 barrel,
esp. the aftermarket Weber plus aftermarket intake manifold
VERY few people ever get it to work satisfactorally

(thanks to Jim Allen for the flow data)

'68 to '82 2-1/4L

Zenith

36IVE

Any LR 4 cyl

Weber

341CH Note: Be careful because out of the box jetting is usually too lean and a burnt piston can result. See the note below for jetting. Sensitive to alttude changes. Main jet at bottom of fuel bowl so requires very clean fuel.  See FAQ page

'83 to ''90 2-1/4 & 2-1/2 L

Weber

32/34 DMTL, two barrel. Factory fittment for 2.25L and 2.5L engines 1883 and newer. Uses different intake & exhaust manifolds and different cam.
Factory jetting specs are at the bottom of this FAQ page

Any LR 4 cyl

Weber

32/36DGV, two barrel.  Common aftermarket, VERY few people get it to work satisfactoraly. See FAQ page

Any LR 4 cyl

Rochester

From '50-'53 216 cubic inch Chevy truck six cyl engine. Popular replacement for power and rugged simplicity.

Any LR 4 cyl

Holley*

Type 1904, number R-2494A**
Used on '60-'64 Scout with 152 Cu In 4 cyl engine (about 2.5L).  High fuel mileage carb.  See Note from Alexander Grice below.

Any LR 4 cyl

Carter

Type 626 used on 134 cu in 4 cyl engine.  IMPORTANT: Carter single barrel carbs are not recommended for off road use because of float placement.  Jeep owners will be the first to tell you they flood under off camber conditions. They work OK for a street Land Rover that  doesn't see steep angles.

Early LR 6 cyl

SU

SU HD8    Uses a "UG" needle

Late LR 6 Cyl

Zenith

Zenith 175 CD-2S

Glass bowl seal for stock fuel pump

NAPA

* A note from Alexander Grice about the Holley carb conversion:

I was pleased with the performance of the Holley - but the one I had was a 2494, supposedly off the early '60s cornbinders with an I-4. When my original Zenith succumbed to the Zenith Warp (no known cure back then....) I tried the Holley. The bolt holes on the base need to be elongated by 1/32" to fit the manifold, with a short bit of flat stock attached to the throttle arm to line up with the stock linkage. The elbow from the oil bath air cleaner has to be wired on (no style points....) but I routinely got 20+ MPG. Even ran from Virginia Beach to past Lynchburg, VA on a single, 12 gallon tank for an average of 27+ MPG. Not to shabby....

Cheers  Alexander Grice
